Rhodohypoxis

  • An article in the SABG Newsletter by Anthony Murphy in Newsletter 49 (August 2023) in the section “Forthcoming peat ban” describes an experiment with different soil mixes, in a quest for a suitable peat-free medium. Anthony said he potted up corms for the experiment on 1st April and included photos of shoots growing and flowering on 18th April, 26th May, 12th July and 25th July.
  • Rhodohypoxis - the Lemming of the Plant World by Matt Mattus, 28 February 2011, described their cultivation. He is based in Worcester, Massachusetts, one hour west of Boston, USA, in US hardiness zone 5, where Rhodohypoxis are not hardy.
  • An article in the March 1994 AGS bulletin ‘Rhodohypoxis Reflections’ by Keith Clarke recommended using 75% moist sphagnum peat and 25% grit/sand.
