This email book auction is for SABG members only. We might relax this restriction later.

The prices listed for some of the books are list prices supplied by Amazon, they are not guide prices and have no effect on how much you might choose to bid. However, bids should be high enough to make this process worthwhile.

I will send an invoice to successful bidders, to include an estimate of postage in addition to the winning bid amount. Postage using Royal Mail Tracked 48 for small parcels is likely to cost around £4, or more for heavier books or more than one book, but of course the postage cost per book will be less if you buy several books!

1. In order for members who attend our Baughurst meeting on Sunday 25th October to have the opportunity to collect books they have successfully bid for (and save you the cost and me the trouble of posting them), the deadline for bids in this first phase will be 23:59 on Friday 23rd October. I will then confirm the winning bids, and if you have told me you are likely to attend the Baughurst meeting I will bring your books to the meeting, where you will be able to pay in cash or by cheque (or by bank transfer or PayPal if you can show me your payment confirmation).
2. I will bring some or all of the unsold books to the meeting as well, for members attending to inspect and perhaps purchase.
3. After the meeting I will remove the sold books from the list, and re-open the bidding process for some as-yet unspecified period, and post the sold books to members who haven’t collected them at Baughurst.
4. At some stage the auction will be closed and remaining books will be donated to AGS groups, BCSS branches and National Trust second-hand bookshops. I hate the idea of books going to be pulped.

It will be very helpful if any members who cannot come to Baughurst can arrange for their books to be collected by any friends, family members or other SABG members who can attend or call in at the meeting.

You can view either the whole list in plain text without cover photos, or you can view the list in two parts (list1start and List 2: Alpines, other flora and general gardening), with cover photos and the ability to use a search box (type in “frit”, for example, if that’s your passion). The book details were compiled using an app called LibraryThing to scan the barcodes and generate data about the books gathered from Amazon and perhaps other sources. So I cannot guarantee its accuracy, but I can check any books about which you have questions if you let me know. The condition of the books is excellent in most cases, apart from a few rather old books. The cover photos were taken by me of the actual books, not downloaded from Amazon.

To filter the books (see only selected entries), type something into the Search box (this will look in all columns). To return to the full list, blank the Search box or refresh the page.

To change the order of the rows, click on the heading of the column you want to sort by. To return to the original order, refresh the page.

I will try to add your bid(s) to the tables on the web pages within 24 hours. Come back to this page to see whether anyone else has made a later higher bid.
